LATROBE, Pa. (Oct. 11) - After going head-to-head for nearly 100 minutes, Saint Vincent surrendered the game-winning goal with 26 seconds remaining in overtime to give the Westminster Titans a 2-1 victory.

Westminster scored the game's first goal in the 36th minute when Matthew Kiernan knocked home his third goal of the season. The Bearcats (4-10-0, 0-2-0) answered right before halftime when senior Brody Ruffner scored on a penalty kick for his second goal of the season. The goal came in the 44th minute and tied the score at 1-1.

Both teams failed to score in the second half and the Bearcats were forced into their first overtime session this season. The match appeared headed to a second overtime before Kiernan collected a rebound and scored the game-winner for his second goal of the afternoon.

Westminster outshot Saint Vincent by a 25-to-17 margin, including an 11-to-3 differential in the second half. Senior goalkeeper Eric Houghton put together a solid performance on Senior Day, making several stellar saves to keep the match tied in the second half. Houghton matched a season-high with 10 saves. Sophomore forward Scott Luthy totaled a team-high four shots for SVC in the loss.

Saint Vincent returns to action when they hit the road to face Thomas More on Tuesday, Oct. 14. Match time is slated for 1:30 p.m.
