Chris Page scored in the 75th minute to push the Saint Vincent men's soccer team to a 3-2 road victory at Thiel in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.
Saint Vincent pushed itself out to a 2-0 lead over the course of the first 17 minutes of action. Senior midfielder
Brody Ruffner registered his third goal of the season, off a pass from sophomore midfielder
Kevin Proctor. Proctor then did the scoring himself in the 17th minute of action, tallying his fourth goal of the season to put SVC up 2-0.Â
The Bearcats were able to hold that lead until midway through the second half, when the host Tomcats scored two goals in a two minute span to tie the match. Nearly 10 minutes later, Page recorded his second score of the season, off of a pass from Ruffner. Saint Vincent was able to lock down defensively over the next 15 minutes and preserve its first PAC victory of the season.Â
SVC put together an all-around team win. Proctor and Ruffner paced the offense, tallying both a goal and an assist apiece. Freshman
Sam Hayward started in net and worked all 90 minutes, tallying nine saves in his first collegiate victory.Â
With the win, Saint Vincent improved to 5-11 overall and 1-3 in the PAC. Meanwhile, Thiel dropped to 2-12 overall and 0-5 in the conference.Â
Saint Vincent will look for back-to-back PAC wins when they host Geneva on Tuesday, Oct. 21. Match time is scheduled for 4 p.m.Â
