LATROBE, Pa. (Oct. 22) - Goals by seniors
Amie Dobracki and
Elly Colvin helped spark the Saint Vincent women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Geneva in Presidents' Athletic Conference play.
The Bearcats offense recorded a season-high 36 shots in the victory, including advantages of 22-to-3 in the first half and 14-to-1 in the second half. SVC attempted eight corner kicks to just three for Geneva.
After a scoreless first half, the Bearcats broke through in the second half. Dobracki tallied her second goal of the season, firing in a laser from 40 yards out to beat the Golden Tornadoes goalkeeper in the 64th minute. Freshman
Alexandra Piampiano earned an assist, setting up the Dobracki goal. The Bearcats offense kept the pressure on and finally added an insurance goal when Colvin scored off a left footed shot off a direct kick in the 88th minute.
The two goals were more than enough, as the Bearcats defense only allowed four shots. Saint Vincent was relentless offensively, having four players register five shots or more in the contest. Sophomore goalkeeper
Meghan Lyden earned the victory in goal, recording two saves and posting her second shutout of the season.
With the victory, SVC improved to 2-4 in PAC play and 2-13 overall. Geneva dropped to 0-6 in the conference and 1-14 overall.
Saint Vincent takes to the road in search of another PAC victory, facing Bethany (W.Va.) on Saturday, Oct. 25. Match time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
