FULL RESULTSThe SVC men's swimming team won its second straight by capturing the 2014-15 home opener over the University of Mount Union, 138.5-123.5.
Mount Union captured the night's first event, the 400 Medley Relay in 3:36.97, while the SVC team of
Xander Emili,
Andy Moog,
Kyle Garase and
Alex Bolen finished second in 3:40.27.
In the 1000 Free,
Matt Crum was second in 10:38.17, while teammate
Adam Gordish was third (10:41.70).Â
Zach Ligus earned his first win of the night in the 200 Free (1:46.97), while
Brian Flynn was third (1:57.34). Â
Adam Tran finished second in the 100 Back in 1:00.76, while Matthew Tashima was third in 1:02.59. In the 100 Breast, Moog was second in 1:01.26, while
Matt Kenney was third in 1:04.99. Â
Emili won the 200 Fly in 1:59.53, while Garase finished third in 2:07.91. Â Ligus then won the 50 Free in 22.10, with Bolen taking second in 22.68.
At the first intermission, the teams were tied with 65.5 points, but SVC started to pull away in the second session.
Ligus started the session with his third win of the evening, this time in the 100 Free in 48.94. Emili then won his second event, the 200 Back, in 2:03.83. Â In the 200 Breast, Moog (2:17.38), Kam Faychak (2:24.06) and Kenney (2:26.32) finished second through fourth, respectively. Â
In the 500 Free, Bolen battled to the very end, finishing second in 4:57.56, falling just .14 short of the win. Â The 100 Fly was next, and Emili (53.61) was the winner, followed by Garase (53.92).
Sean Doyle finished second in the final individual event of the night, the 400 IM, in 4:34.92.
The Bearcats then capped the night, and the victory, by winning the 200 Free Relay, as Ligus, Garase,
Allen Sant and Bolen won in 1:29.04. Â Ligus opened the event with a 21.79 split to set the tone, while Bolen finished with a 21.93.
