The Saint Vincent Bearcats stormed back from a 7-goal deficit to earn a 16-11 victory over Thiel College in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship game at Chuck Noll Field.

After the visiting Tomcats scored twice in the game's fir three minutes, a goal from Matt Mackey at the 11:28 mark of the first quarter got the Bearcats on the board, trailing 2-1.

The score was 3-1 when Tim Oxenreiter tallied a goal at the 18-second mark to end scoring in the opening quarter.

The first 9 minutes of the second quarter belonged to Thiel, as they scored six straight goals to build a 9-2 lead following a goal by Francis Ahia with 6:41 to go in the half.

Oxenreiter then led the charge for the Bearcats, tallying three goals in 39 seconds to cut the deficit to 9-5.  At the 3:19 mark, Mackey added his second goal of the game, and Peter Hronis made it a two-goal game, 9-7, with just 51 ticks left in the half.

The Tomcats gained back a bit of momentum with a goal just 19 seconds later, taking a 10-7 lead into the break.

In the second half, the Bearcats came back in a big way, outscoring Thiel 6-0 in the third quarter.  Bryce Pasquariello started the scoring, then goals by Mackey and Nick Pensyl tied the game at 10-10 with 5:54 on the clock.  An unassisted goal by Hronis would prove to be the game-winner, giving SVC its first lead of the day, 11-10, with 5:11 left in the third.

Another goal by Pensyl added to the lead, then Mackey scored just before the horn at the end of the third, as SVC took a 13-10 advantage into the fourth quarter.

Thiel added a goal five minutes into play, but the Bearcats picked up a trio of insurance goals late to seal the victory.

Greg Gonzalez went the distance in the net, tallying 13 saves.

The Bearcats earn the PAC Championship for the first time, after being runners-up to Washingotn & Jefferson in 2013.
