BOX SCOREOWINGS MILLS, Md. (Aug. 29) - The Saint Vincent men's soccer team dropped a hard fought 1-0 decision Friday evening to Stevenson University in the season opener for both teams.
Both teams battled through a scoreless first half before Stevenson got the only goal they would need when Andrew DeLuca scored at the 76:46 mark on a penalty kick. Stevenson held a 20-12 shot advantage for the match, including a 15-3 differential in the second half. Stevenson also held a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks for the match.
The Bearcats were led by senior goalkeeper
Eric Houghton, who recorded 10 saves in 90 minutes of action. Junior midfielder
Christian Trueax led the offensive attack with two shots on goal.
Saint Vincent returns to action tomorrow afternoon when they travel to McDaniel College. Start time is set for 2 p.m.
