BOX SCORE BETHANY, W.Va. (April 14) - Seniors
Nick Pensyl and
Bryce Pasquariello scored four goals each as the Saint Vincent men's lacrosse team rolled past Bethany 15-5 under the lights in Ohio River Lacrosse Conference play.
The win improved Saint Vincent to 5-6 overall and 3-1 in ORLC contests. Meanwhile, Bethany dropped to 4-9 overall and 1-3 in league play.
SVC wasted little time taking control of the match, scoring three goals each in the first and second quarters to build a 6-0 halftime lead. The Bearcats pushed the lead to 10-2 at the end of the third before adding five more goals over the final 15 minutes of action.
All three first period goals were man-up scores, two of which came from Pensyl, who surpassed 100 career goals with four tallies on the night. Pensyl added three assists to help pace the offensive attack. Pasquariello poured in a season-best four goals, while also chipping in an assist.
Senior
Tim Oxenreiter scored three goals, while
Patrick Kenna,
Anthony Hogeback,
Jon Souders and
Kyle Arthur chipped in a goal apiece. Kenna also picked up a match-best eight ground balls. Junior
Greg Gonzalez made four saves in just over 42 minutes of action in net. Freshman
Connor McMillen finished things up by playing the final 16 plus minutes in net.
Saint Vincent held a 38-20 advantage in shots, while also winning 16 of 24 face-offs on the night. The Bearcats return to action on Saturday, April 18, when they host Defiance (OH) at 1 p.m. for another conference match.
