BOX SCOREPHOTO GALLERYLATROBE, Pa. (April 18) - The Saint Vincent men's lacrosse team rolled to a 31-2 victory over Defiance College in Ohio River Lacrosse Conference action at Chuck Noll Field.
The Bearcats set a new single-game school record for goals with 31. The previous single-game record was 29 goals back in a 2011 victory over Thiel.
Leading the way for Saint Vincent was seniors
Nick Pensyl and
Bryce Pasquariello. Pensyl totaled 10 points (8 goals, 2 assists) while Pasquariello added 8 points (3 goals, 5 assists). The strong game allowed Pasquariello to surpass the 100 point mark for his Bearcat career.
Brendon Masten and
Kyle Arthur each chipped in hat trick efforts for Saint Vincent. A total of 15 different Bearcats scored in the contest, as SVC outshot Defiance by a 67-13 margin in the match.
SVC held an 8-1 lead after the first quarter, before pushing the advantage to 15-1 at halftime. The Bearcats scored nine goals in the third before adding seven more in the fourth to finish off the scoring.
Freshman goalkeeper
Connor McMillen made his first career start in net, working 37-plus minutes of action for the win.
SVC improved to 6-6 overall on the season and moved to 4-1 in ORLC contests.
Saint Vincent returns to action on Tuesday, April 21 at La Roche. Start time is slated for 4 p.m.
