Needing a win in game two to keep their hopes of earning a berth to the upcoming PAC Tournament, Emert allowed just three runs and scattered 11 hits to improve her record to 11-4 on the season.
Swettlen got the Bearcats offense going, slugging a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the first inning. TMC responded with two runs in the third inning to take a 2-1 lead. Emert came through at the plate, slugging a two-run home run to push SVC to a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Refusing to go away, the Saints tied it with a single run in the fifth. However, Emert stranded two Saints' runners to keep the score tied.
The Bearcats regained the lead in the bottom of the frame, Swettlen walked and advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Patterson. After a groundout, Duerr laced an RBI single to left field to score Swettlen.
Emert recorded the final six outs to power the Bearcats to the doubleheader sweep. Swettlen, Duerr and Emert all recorded multi-hit efforts in game two.
With the split, the Bearcats finish 11-7 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference and 23-9 overall. The win, coupled with a loss each from Westminster and Grove City, helped the Bearcats secure a spot in the 2015 PAC Softball Championship Tournament, to be played Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2. Time, Location and Opponent is still to be determined.
