The Saint Vincent women's swimming team earned its first ever win over non-conference competitor University of Mount Union by a score of 167-95 at the Resnik Pool.

Starting off the meet, the quartet of
Sarah Sheldon,
Grace Reynolds,
Kelly Kramer and
Marissa Frollo took top honors in the 400 Medley relay with a time of 4:13.47.

Putting together a strong meet was senior
Marla Turk, who had a record-breaking performance 1000 Free. Turk broke the pool and school record, clocking in at 11:02.06. The senior then added a first place finish in the 200 Backstroke finishing in a time of 2:14.26. She finished the meet with a win in the 400 Individual Medley winning by over 30 seconds at touching the wall at 4:51.42.

In the 100 Backstroke, Sheldon took top honors with a time of 1:02.28. Reynolds also added in a win 100 Breaststroke, timed in 1:10.65.

Maddie Bartrug also had a strong performance against Mount Union, as the sophomore won the 50 Free with a time of 25.27 and the 200 Free with a time of 1:59.62.

In the 100 Butterfly, Frollo placed first with a time of 1:03.11. The senior also added a second place finish in the 100 Free (56.34) behind teammate
Ciara Lewis (55.96). Frollo and Lewis were both part of the winning 200 Free Relay team, along with
Katelyn Miller and Bartrug, clocking in at 1:41.83.

The Bearcat women will resume competition in 2017. SVC will face Chatham In Presidents' Athletic Conference action on Jan. 13. The meet will be held in Pittsburgh, with a 6pm start time.Â
