PHOTO GALLERY LATROBE, Pa. (April 14) - The Saint Vincent women's lacrosse team earned a decisive 19-9 victory over Thiel College in Ohio River Lacrosse Conference action.
Saint Vincent scored the first seven goals of the contest before eventually taking a 14-4 lead at halftime. Senior
Katie Uhring got things started with a goal off an assist from
Sarah Wallerstedt, giving SVC the early lead two minutes in. After
Helena Shoplik made it 2-0 SVC, the Bearcats got a goal each from freshmen Latrobe products
Naomi Schwaiger and
Julianne Rosa, pushing the Bearcats advantage to 4-0.

Maggie Nelson then scored the next two goals before senior
Bridget Synan scored unassisted for her first score of the season. Thiel finally got on the board, tallying back-to-back goals to cut the SVC edge to 7-2 with 14:35 left in the half.
SVC would then rattle off the next seven goals to take a commanding 14-2 lead. Nelson and Shoplik each scored two goals during the run. Thiel tallied the final two goals of the first half, making the score 14-4 Saint Vincent after 30 minutes.

Katie Stallings, junior
Anita Onufer and freshman
Calsey Holshue tallied a goal each over the final 30 minutes.
A total of 10 different Bearcats scored in the victory. Nelson led the way with eight points (six goals, two assists), helping her move into a tie for the most goals this season among ORLC players (49). Wallerstedt added six assists, while Shoplik chipped in three goals and two assists. Schwaiger and Synan logged two scores to help the offense. Uhring had a team-best four groundballs for the defense.
Saint Vincent improves to 5-1 in the ORLC and 5-8 overall. Thiel dropped to 0-6 in the league and 0-10 overall.
The Bearcats travel to co-conference leader Washington & Jefferson on Saturday, April 16. Start time is slated for 1 p.m.
