The Bearcat baseball team managed just nine hits over two games, falling to Washington & Jefferson College on the road by scores of 7-1 and 7-2.
In game one,
Ben Webb had a single and double, and
Eddie Kilkeary had a single, while
Greg Martin drove in the lone SVC run with a 7th inning groundout.
Dave Culeton took the loss on the hill, working into the second inning. Â
Mike Panchik worked 3 strong relief innings, giving up just one hit and one unearned run, while
Luke Spisak worked a scoreless sixth inning for SVC.
SVC was down 1-0 in the third inning in game two, when
Matthew Morrone walked, then advanced on an infield single by
Luke Fox. Â Morrone later scored on a bunt single by Webb to tie the game. Â However, SVC yielded six runs over the next two innings to fall behind 7-1.
In the fifth, Fox singled and stole second, then moved to third after a pair of walks. Â A fielder's choice grounder by
TJ Kuny brought home Fox to complete the scoring on the day. Â
Tyler Frankel worked three innings and took the loss. Â Panchik again had a solid outing out of the bullpen, working 2.2 innings of scoreless relief. Â
Webb led the offense in game two, going 3-for-3, while Kilkeary was 2-3.
The two teams meet again on Sunday (April 24) for a 9-inning single game at Bearcat Ballfield at 1PM.
