Bearcats fall to W&J in PAC doubleheader

The Bearcat baseball team managed just nine hits over two games, falling to Washington & Jefferson College on the road by scores of 7-1 and 7-2.

In game one, Ben Webb had a single and double, and Eddie Kilkeary had a single, while Greg Martin drove in the lone SVC run with a 7th inning groundout.

Dave Culeton took the loss on the hill, working into the second inning.  Mike Panchik worked 3 strong relief innings, giving up just one hit and one unearned run, while Luke Spisak worked a scoreless sixth inning for SVC.

SVC was down 1-0 in the third inning in game two, when Matthew Morrone walked, then advanced on an infield single by Luke Fox.  Morrone later scored on a bunt single by Webb to tie the game.  However, SVC yielded six runs over the next two innings to fall behind 7-1.

In the fifth, Fox singled and stole second, then moved to third after a pair of walks.  A fielder's choice grounder by TJ Kuny brought home Fox to complete the scoring on the day.

Tyler Frankel worked three innings and took the loss.  Panchik again had a solid outing out of the bullpen, working 2.2 innings of scoreless relief.

Webb led the offense in game two, going 3-for-3, while Kilkeary was 2-3.

The two teams meet again on Sunday (April 24) for a 9-inning single game at Bearcat Ballfield at 1PM.
