The SVC softball team defeated the Chatham Cougars by scores of 11-1 and 10-0 in a Senior Day doubleheader in Latrobe.
SVC got off to a quick start in game one, as
Courtney Patterson singled with one out, then was replaced at first by
Shelby Noel, who hit into a fielder's choice. An error allowed
Emily Duerr to get on base, and
Samantha Emert followed with an RBI single. Â
Kelly Flaherty followed with a 2-run triple that put the hosts in front 3-0.

Chatham got a run back in the top of the second, but Duerr managed to get out of a bases loaded jam with one out, keeping it a 3-1 game.

In the bottom of the second,
Morgan Murphy singled past a drawn-in infield with one out, then scored on a triple by
Sarah Swettlen. Swettlen then scored on a Patterson ground out to increase the lead to 5-1.

Two innings later, Swettlen and Patterson singled to lead off the inning, and Noel drew a walk to load the bases. Duerr then came through with a two-run single to left, making it a 7-1 game. A single by Emert then scored Noel, and Duerr scored on an infield single by Flaherty to make the score 9-1. A single by
Christina Folino drove home the 10
th run. With just one out, Swettlen singled for the second time in the inning, running the lead to 11-1.

Duerr went the distance, giving up six hits and no earned runs. She walked one and struck out six while improving her record to 11-4 on the season.
In game two, Swettlen and Patterson singled to start the game, followed by a Noel RBI single. A double by Emert drove home Patterson to make it 2-0. A single by Flaherty drove home Noel, then Folino's infield single scored Emert to increase the lead to 4-0.

In the third, Folino started the inning with her second infield single of the game, then moved to second on a
Jenna LoVasco single. After Murphy walked to load the bases, Folino scored on a passed ball. Swettlen then walked to reload the bases, and LoVasco scored on a Patterson ground out to make it 6-0.

Noel then tripled down the right field line, driving home two more runs, making it an 8-0 game. A groundout by Duerr plated Noel to increase the lead to nine.  In the fourth inning, a bases loaded groundout by
Kristin Segiel drove in the Bearcats' tenth run.Â

Emert (12-5) tossed a three-hitter, walking four and striking out five to earn the win in the circle.
SVC is now 11-5 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, 23-11 overall.
