LATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 13) - The Saint Vincent volleyball team lost 3-0 at Washington & Jefferson to commence Presidents' Athletic Conference play in Washington County.
The Presidents (6-2, 1-1 PAC) won the match in straight sets with scores of 25-14, 25-20 and 25-16.
Leading the attack individually was freshman
Sarah Wozniak, who tallied a team-best six kills.
Kayla Stockenus,
Emily Samara,
Emily Vaughan and
Marisa O'Dell had five kills each.
O'Dell added 19 assists, two blocks and five digs in the loss. Sophomore libero
Sydni Massinger chipped in six digs and five service aces.
Saint Vincent tallied 28 kills in the match but also committed 28 attack errors, including 13 in the opening set of the night. Meanwhile, W&J racked up 30 kills and only committed five attack errors.
With the loss, Saint Vincent now sits at 4-6 overall and 0-1 in the league.
The Bearcats return to action Thursday, Sept. 15 with a PAC tri-match at Waynesburg University. SVC takes on Westminster College in a neutral court matchup at 6 p.m., before facing the host Yellow Jackets at 8 p.m.
