The Saint Vincent swimming teams earned a pair of victories over Penn State-Behrend on Senior Day at the Resnik Pool. The women's team won by a score of 160-78, while the men were 178.5-98.5 winners.
In women's competition, the quartet of
Sarah Sheldon,
Grace Reynolds,
Maddie Bartrug, and
Marissa Frollo opened the meet with a win in the 200 Medley Relay in 1:54.49.
Putting a strong performance on Senior Day was senior
Marla Turk, who won the 200 Free with a time of 2:01.13. Turk also set a new pool record in the 200 IM with a time of 2:17.02.
Gianna Boburka took top honors in the 100 Backstroke clocking in with a time of 1:05.97, while teammate
Kelly Kramer won the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:10:28. In that event,
Amelia Rashid (1:14.98) and
Katelyn Miller (1:16:76) took second and third, respectively.
In the 200 Butterfly, the Bearcats took the top three spots.
Sarah Sheldon was first (2:27:35), followed by
Hannah Barkey (2:29:52), and Sam Mears (2:35:14).
Frollo put on her own Senior Day performance by winning the 50 Freestyle with a time of 25:20.
Ciara Lewis won the 100 Free, clocking in with a time of 55.71.
Carly Grove was the winner of the 200 Breaststroke in at a time of 2:38.59, and n the 500 Free,
Hannah Barkey took top honors with time of 5:44.49.
Bartrug was the winner of the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:00.28. She was also apart of the winning 200 Free relay along with Kramer, Frollo, and Lewis.
In men's action, leading the way was senior
Xander Emili, who finished in first place in the 50 Free (22.68) and in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:18.98. The senior was also a part of the winning 200 Medley relay along with
Jacob Davis,
Kyle Garase, and
Matt Tashima.
Sean Doyle was the winner in the 1000 Free (10:41.71), winning the event by over 50 seconds ahead of the next competitor. The junior was also the winner of the 500 Free with a time of 5:06.68.
Alex Bolen took the top spot in the 200 Free, clocking in at 1:48.13. Davis took first in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 55.48.
In the 100 Free, Tashima came in first place with a time of 50.00, while
Kyle Garase took top honors in the 100 Butterfly, touching the wall in 54.07.
Adam Gordish claimed the top spot in the 200 Fly, posting a time of 2:04.67.
The Bearcats ended the individual portion of the meet with a sweep in the 200 Individual Medley.
Andrew Rectenwald was the winner of the event with a time of 2:08.35.
Michael Marinchak and Kam Faychak came in second and third, respectively.
In the 200 Free relay, the quartet of Tashima, Emili, Bolen, and Davis placed first with a time of 1:28.98.
The meet was Saint Vincent's final event before the three-day Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships, which get underway on February 9.
