The SVC women's bowling team lost the first match of the night on the road at D'Youville College in Buffalo, but bounced back to take the final two points on the night.
In the first game, a traditional set, the Bearcats took an early lead but fell behind in the mid-stages, before falling by a score of 808-776. Freshman
Olivia Emmonds led the way with a 198 game.
Up next was a Best-of-7 Baker set, and SVC lost the opening game by a score of 181-174. In game two, the Bearcats fought back and won by a score of 176-160, to tie the set at one each. SVC lost a heartbreaker in game three, 158-155, but came back strong in game four with a 193-133 win to tie it at 2-2. D'Youville took a 3-2 lead by winning a 178-163 decision in game five, putting the Bearcats' backs to the wall. The team responded with a 190-134 win in game six to tie the match and send it to the last game. SVC came up with its best game of the evening to that point, shooting a 201 and pulling away to a 60-pin win to earn the point.
The final point of the night was contested in another Best-of-7 Baker set. D'Youville took an early lead in game 1 before the Bearcats stormed back with four consecutive strikes to take the lead. However, the hosts came back to win 197-183 to take a 1-0 lead. The next four game belonged to the Bearcats, as they won 191-148, 219-176, 165-156 and 191-127 to earn the win.
Dani Koehler led the way in the Baker games with a per-frame average of 19.58.
Jessica Guesman finished at 18.64, while Emmonds finished at 18.16.
Morgan Barlock finished with an average of 18.11, followed by
Meghan Christman (18.00) and
Mercedes Belch (17.25).
Saint Vincent is now 23-2 on the season, and will face Daemen College on Saturday (November 23) at Lancaster Lanes in Depew, New York. The match will begin at 1:00.
