The SVC women's bowling team improved to 32-8 on the season with three wins over Ursuline College in a match held at Hillview Lanes in Greensburg.
In the Best-of-7 Baker set, the Bearcats won four straight games to win the set. The Bearcats started slowly in game one, but picked up three strikes in a row from
Dani Koehler,
Cassie Murcko and
Morgan Barlock, pulling away to a 167-129 win. In game two, Saint Vincent once again got off to a rough start, but strung together five consecutive strikes by
Meghan Christman, Koehler, Murcko, Barlock and Jess Guesman to take a commanding lead. Koehler then struck three times in the 10th as SVC finished with a 213, while the Arrows finished with a score of 120. SVC won the final two games by scores of 189-129 and 141-131 to earn the Baker set win.
In the first of two traditional games, SVC was victorious by a score of 816-644. Murcko and Koehler each finished with a 182, while Barlock threw three strikes late in the game to end with a 156.
The day's final game saw the Bearcats earn an 851-680 win. Koehler threw four consecutive strikes in mid-game and finished with a 200, while Murcko shot a 188.
Mercedes Belch ended the game with a 180.
The Bearcats have now won six in a row and 11 of their last 12. The team will return to action on Sunday, February 17, hosting the second annual Br. Pat Lacey Memorial Tournament, named in honor of the late coach of the Saint Vincent men's team that won the NAIA National Championship in 1978. The tournament will be held at Hillview Lanes and will begin at 11AM. A total of 10 colleges will be participating.
