Jeremy Kennedy broke the All-Time Goals record in Saint Vincent men's lacrosse history as the team defeated Medaille, 26-8. Kennedy now has 150 goals in his career.
The Bearcats opened the scoring 35 seconds into the game as
Ben Price scored an unassisted goal.
Tyler Condrasky followed it up with a goal just nine seconds late as
Matthew Prock picked up an assist.
At the 11:54 mark in the first, Saint Vincent increased its lead to three as Price scored his second of the game with a helper from
Ryan Filyo. Just a little over a minute late Kennedy scored his first goal of the game, giving the Bearcats a 4-0 lead.
The Mavericks scored its first goal of the game at the 8:25 mark but Saint Vincent scored the next three goals. Kennedy picked up his second goal while
Jon Succop scored twice with one coming in a man-up situation.
Medaille added its second goal of the game with 4:50 remaining in the first but the Bearcats scored with 54 seconds left in the opening period thanks to
Ryan Filyo. Going to the second, Saint Vincent led 8-2.
In the second period, the Bearcats picked up where it left off and scored the first four goals from Price,
Nate Salera, Filyo and Kennedy in respective order.
Medaille responded with three goals of its own but still trailed 12-5 with 2:26 left in the first half.
Stone Haberstroh scored the final goal of the second period with an assist from Filyo. Saint Vincent led 13-5 going into the 10-minute break.
In the third,
Danny Tare started the scoring just 21 seconds into the period. Kennedy grabbed his third assist of the game.
The Mavericks scored 56 seconds later to keep the game within eight, 14-6.
Kennedy scored his record setting goal at the 9:50 mark with an assist from
Tyler Condrasky. The Bearcats scored four more goals coming from Price (two-times), Tare (man-up) and Succop. With five minutes remaining in the third, Saint Vincent led 19-6.
The Mavericks added another goal, but the Bearcats countered with two more. Medaille scored the final goal of the third with two seconds remaining. Going to the final period, Saint Vincent led 21-8.
In the fourth, the Bearcats scored the final five goals and won by the 18-goal margin.
Kennedy finished the game with four goals and assists for a total of eight points. Not only did he set the program record for career goals, Kennedy took full possession of third in the All-Time Points with 210.
Other leading scorers were Price with five goals and an assist while Condrasky scored twice with four helpers.
Caleb Bouch started in the net and picked up the win making seven saves on 15 shots.
Saint Vincent returns to the field on Wednesday, March 20 to face La Roche College. Start time is 3:30 p.m.
