The Bethany Bison swept a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader over the Bearcats in Latrobe, by scores of 5-1 and 13-2.
In game one, the Bison got on the board in the top of the first inning, scoring one run on a pair of hits, but also taking advantage of a Bearcat error. Â The unearned run that made it 1-0 held up for the next several innings, until
Bobby Finn stepped to the plate to lead off the bottom of the fourth.
Â
Finn, fresh off a three home run performance two days earlier, responded with his fifth home run of the season, tying the game at 1-1.
Â
The game remained tied until the 7th, when the Bison started the inning with a pair of singles, chasing Davis.Â
Matt Evans came out of the bullpen and the next batter attempted a sacrifice, but ended up with a well-placed bunt single that loaded the bases. A sacrifice fly and two hits later, the Bison had scored four runs, taking a 5-1 lead.
Ramon Milke and
Parker Janosko each had two hits for the Bearcats.  Davis (0-1) worked 6+ innings and took the loss.
Â
In game two, the Bison once again scored a run in the top of the first, this time off SVC's
Fred Gillespie. In the third, Noah Rady hit a two-run home run to right center, giving the visitors a 3-0 lead.
Â
The Bison increased the lead dramatically in the top of the sixth, scoring eight runs on ten singles, including six in a row to open the inning.Â
Â
SVC didn't get on the board until the bottom of the 9th, when
Brady Duricko hit a 2-run single with the bases load. Â Gillespie (1-1) took the loss on the mound. Â
Jarrett Noel and
Ramon Milke each worked one inning of scoreless relief.
Â
With the losses, SVC is now 10-5 overall on the year, 3-2 in the PAC. Bethany improves to 13-4, 3-1 in the conference.  Saint Vincent returns to action on Friday (March 29) with a non-conference doubleheader at Penn State-Altoona.
