The Bearcat men's lacrosse team ended its Spring Break trip with a 19-10 loss in Frederick, Maryland to Hood College.
Hood opened an early 4-0 lead before
Zach Novelli scored with 2:21 remaining in the first quarter off an assist from
Nate Salera. Â Down 6-1 in the second, SVC's
Danny Tare scored to make it 6-2, and the Bearcats later picked up a pair of goals, an unassisted score by
Alec Richard, who then set up
Jeremy Kennedy less than a minute later. Â
Kennedy added his second goal of the game with 2:32 left in the half, but the Bearcats trailed by five, 11-6, at the break. Â The hosts tallied 7 consecutive goals, to make the score 18-6 before SVC added two man-up goals late in the period, one each by Tare and
Jon Succop.
Ryan Filyo and
Ben Price scored in the fourth, but SVC dropped to 0-5 on the season with the loss. Â
Kevin Tregoning (0-1) started and took the loss for Saint Vincent. Â He recorded 9 saves on the afternoon.
Saint Vincent returns to action on Friday, March 15, hosting Medaille at 2PM at UPMC Field.
