The Bearcat men's lacrosse team took control of the game early, and earned a 15-11 win over Chatham University on the road in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.
Â
It took both teams nearly 7 minutes to get onto the board, but
Nate Salera set up
Danny Tare for the game's first goal at the 8:11 mark.  After the hosts tied the game three minutes later, the Bearcats'
Frank Casile scored to put SVC in front with 4:18 left in the first quarter, and the team would retain the lead the rest of the way.
Â
Early in the second, Tare's second goal of the day made it a 4-2 game, and was the first of four consecutive Saint Vincent goals. Â
Jeremy Kennedy, Tare, and Casile each added goals to run the lead to 7-2. Â
Â
Chatham's Kyle Rullan added two late second quarter goals to make it 7-4, but
Ben Price tallied a goal with just 7 seconds left in the half, giving SVC an 8-4 advantage at the break.
Â
The Cougars started the third quarter strong, recording three quick goals to cut the gap to just one, but Kennedy scored to make it a 9-7 game near the midway point of the third.
Â
The teams traded goals over much of the rest of the quarter, before Price scored with just 8 ticks remaining, giving the Bearcats a three-goal lead, 12-9, after three periods.
Â
Chatham got within two with a goal just 16 seconds into the fourth quarter, but the Bearcat defense then took over, keeping Chatham off the board for more than 12 minutes.  During that time, Casile and
Alec Richard added goals to put the game out of reach.
Â
Brandon Martin started and picked up the win in the net for the Bearcats, posting 15 saves.  Kennedy, Price, Casile and Tare had three goals each, while
Tyler Condrasky scored twice.Â
Zach Novelli had three assists and Salera had two. Â
