The SVC baseball team fell behind early and was unable to rally late, losing a Presidents' Athletic Conference game to Waynesburg by a score of 18-7.
A run-scoring single by
TJ Dailey in the top of the second tied the game at 1-1, but the Yellow Jackets scored eight runs in the next two innings to pull away to a 9-1 lead. The Bearcats later cut the gap to 9-3, but the hosts then scored six more runs to make it 15-3 and put the game out of reach.
Waynesburg pounded out 21 hits in the game, while SVC had seven.
Matt Morrone was the lone Bearcat with two hits, as he doubled twice.
Zach Barberich (0-1) took the loss on the mound, and he was followed by seven relievers for the Bearcats.
Jarrett Noel (2/3 inning),
Paul Perman (1 inning) and
Colin Parks (1 inning) each pitched scoreless ball.
Saint Vincent is now 18-15 overall, 10-9 in the PAC. The Bearcats will host Waynesburg on Monday afternoon (April 29) at 1PM for a doubleheader.
