The Saint Vincent softball team took on Maryville College in an elimination game in the NCAA Division III Regional. The Bearcats fell 5-3 to the Scots.

Maryville opened the scoring in second inning with a two-run homer to left center off the bat of Christen Torres.

Saint Vincent answered in the bottom of the second when
Sydney Gurneal drew a walk with the bases loaded to score
Riley Assalone. The Bearcats were unable to get another run as they trailed 2-1.

In the top of the third, the Scots added three runs on two singles to extend the lead to four (5-1).

In the bottom half of the inning,
Alona Sleith drove a ball over the left center fence with
Lauren Miller on first base to bring the score back within two (5-3).

From that point, both pitchers settled in and went the distance without giving up a run. Maryville came out on top with the two-run margin.

Sleith led the team going one-for-three with the two-run homer.
Celia Knappenberger pitched all seven innings, giving up five runs (four earned) on six hits and two strikeouts.

Saint Vincent finished 29-16, tying a program record for single-season wins.
Kelsey Tobin broke the team's record for runs in a single-season with 39 passing
Shelby Noel's record of 38 back in 2016. Also, with records dating back to 2005, Knappenberger set a program record in innings pitched with 168.1 on the year.
