FULL RESULTS
The Bearcat swim teams traveled to the snowy Erie, Pennsylvania, to face Penn State Behrend in their final dual meet of the 2019-2020 season. A non-conference competition, the women triumphed with a final score of 178-77, while the men were defeated 164-98.
The women's first victory came in the 200 Medley Relay, when the quartet of
Erica Steele,
Claire Kenna,
Marion D'Aurora, and
Lauren Connors clocked in at 1:56.43.
Connors, D'Aurora, and Kenna continued to succeed as the meet went on. Connors won the 200 and 100 Free events at 2:00.80 and 55.10, respectively, while D'Aurora won the 100 Back at 1:05.72 and the 500 Free at 5:26.86. Kenna secured victory in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:11.99.
In the 50 Free,
Katie Kozy took first place with a 25.16.
Lauren Krecota picked up a pair of victories in the 200 and 100 Butterfly events, finishing at 2:19.66 and 1:03.39, respectively.
Later in the meet,
Julia Mikita won the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:26.89. The women concluded their meet with a victory in the 200 Free Relay. It was obtained by Connors, Kozy, Steele, and Kenna at 1:41.67.
The men began the meet with a close win in the 200 Medley Relay. The team of
Andrew Rectenwald,
John Martin,
Zach Baum, and
Danny Whirlow clocked in at 1:38.80.
Martin went on to win the 100 Breast (1:01.94), while Baum won all three of his individual events. He topped the 200 Butterfly (2:00.07), 200 Breast (2:13.98), and 200 IM (2:01.48).
The Bearcats will compete in the Presidential Athletic Conference Championship between Feb. 13-15 at Grove City College. The first session will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13.
