Women's Volleyball travels to Grove City


The Saint Vincent College women's volleyball team traveled to Grove City, Pennsylvania to face Grove City College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match. The Wolverines defeated the Bearcats in four sets, 3-1.  

In the opening set against Grove City, Saint Vincent (0-4, 0-4) scored the first point. The Wolverines (4-2, 4-1) tied the game at three a-piece. The next few points went back and forth as Saint Vincent trailed by three, 13-10. The Bearcats were playing catchup but hung into the contest, as Grove City led by as little as one point (20-19). The Wolverines went on to win the first set 25-21.
  
The Bearcats opened the second set notching the first point. Saint Vincent held a five point lead over Grove City 10-5. SVC dominated by as many as nine points in the second, 19-10. The Bearcats took the second set from the Wolverines, 25-22.  
  
Grove City started the third set leading Saint Vincent by two, 11-9. SVC stayed in the set as the two teams traded points until the Bearcats narrowed the deficit to three, 16-13. Saint Vincent could not regain its momentum and ultimately fell in the third set to the Wolverines 25-18.
  
Grove City scored a quick five straight points to lead 5-0 to start the fourth set. Saint Vincent slimmed down the lead trailing by three, 11-8. A kill by Madison Reeping kept the Bearcats in the contest at an even 12 points. The Wolverines took the next four out of five points, slimming down the chance for Saint Vincent to regain the lead (17-13). The contest went back and forth, eventually SVC tying the match at 24. A kill from Carly Augustine gave the Bearcats the tie late in the set 27-27. Grove City won the next four points to secure the match and victory, 30-28.

Luciana Polk and Becca Miller led the Bearcat attack with 11 kills. Madi Marsico tallied 22 digs and Hannah Devine notched 21 digs.

Saint Vincent faces Westminster College on the road on Saturday, March 20. Start time is slated for 12 p.m.
