The Saint Vincent men's lacrosse team traveled to Washington, Pennsylvania to take on Washington and Jefferson College. The Bearcats won the game 13-8.
The Presidents scored the first two goals of game giving them an early 2-0 lead in the first period. The Bearcats would respond with a goal from
Ethan Cavin at the 4:42 mark of the first period making the score 2-1.
The Presidents responded a little over a minute later with a goal of their own giving them a 3-1 advantage. As time was running out in the first,
Nate Salera scored for the Bearcats cutting the lead to one at the end of the first period (3-2).
The Bearcats controlled the entire second period, outscoring the Presidents by four in the period and giving them a 6-3 advantage.
Frank Casile got the Bearcats started as he scored on a man-up situation.
Zack Novelli,
Max Schuler, and Cavin all scored for the Bearcats in the period as well.
The Bearcats started off the third period just as they ended the second period, with goals coming from
Jacob Visalli and and
Matthew Cassidy, extending the Bearcats lead to five (8-3). The Presidents responded late with a goal of their own cutting the lead to 8-4.
A little over two minutes after Washington and Jefferson scored, the Bearcats answered back with two of their own. First, Casile scored his second goal of the game, followed by a
Jordan Billet goal with a man-up advantage, making the lead 10-4.
The Presidents outscored the Bearcats 2-1 in the last minute of the third period, making the score 11-6 headed into the fourth period.
W&J scored first in the fourth period cutting the lead to 11-7 but the Bearcats held them off as they scored two of the next three goals. Cassidy scored for the Bearcats and Casile scored a little over a minute later, capping off the win for the Bearcats (13-8).
Casile finished the game with three goals, which lead the team. Other leading scorers were Cavin, Billet, and Cassidy who all had two goals each.
The Bearcats return home to face Chatham University on Saturday, March 27. Start time is 12:00 p.m.
