The Saint Vincent women's volleyball team hosted the Chatham Cougars in a Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup. The Bearcats won their first match of the year, defeating the Cougars in four sets, 3-1.

Chatham (3-4, 2-4) got on the board first in the first set, but the Bearcats (1-6, 1-6) responded right away after a bad set by the Cougars, tying the set at one. Each team traded points and the set would remain close, as Chatham held a slight advantage at 8-7.

The Cougars used a 5-0 run, and scored six out of the next seven points, giving them a 14-8 lead in the set. The Bearcats responded with a 5-0 run of their own, and scored seven out of eight points, tying the set up at 15.

The Bearcats trailed 21-20, but after kills from Madison Reeping and Carly Augustine, the Bearcats took the lead in the set 22-21. Chatham scored the next three points, giving them a 24-22 advantage in the set. The Bearcats scored next on a Chatham error, but it wasn't enough as Chatham won the set 25-23.

In the second set, just as they did in the first set, Chatham got on the board first, scoring the first two points of the set. The Bearcats answered back with three points of their own, on three Cougar errors, giving Saint Vincent a 3-2 advantage in the set.

SVC held on to that lead throughout the set, but Chatham kept the set close. After a kill from Augustine, the Bearcats held on to a 17-12 lead. They traded the next couple points as Chatham cut the lead to four at 18-14.

The Bearcats then went on a 4-0 run, and scored six of seven, increasing their lead to 24-15. Chatham tried to make a late push, but the Bearcats held on, taking the set 25-20, and the tying the match up 1-1.

In the third set, Chatham scored first once again and held the lead through much of the set. The Cougars led 15-10, but the Bearcats stormed back going on a 5-0 run and scored nine out of ten, giving Saint Vincent a 19-16 lead.

The Cougars and Bearcats traded the next couple points, with the Bearcats hanging on to a slight lead at 20-18. The Bearcats went on a 3-0 run with a Reeping kill and two Chatham errors, to increase their lead to three (23-18).

After a Cougar point, Luciana Polk had a serving ace giving the Bearcats a 24-18 lead. Chatham gained a point on a Saint Vincent error, but it wasn't enough as the Bearcats won the set 25-19.

In the fourth set, Chatham held a slight lead throughout the early part of the set. The match was tied at 16 and the Bearcats took control from this point.

Saint Vincent went on a 3-0 run on three kills, two coming from Reeping and the other from Polk, giving the Bearcats a 19-16 lead. Chatham scored three of the next four, cutting the lead to 20-19 late in the set.

The teams traded the next few points, and the Cougars used a 3-0 run to give them a 23-22 advantage. The Bearcats closed the set out on a 3-0 run of their own, after a service error on Chatham and kills from Danielle Zemba and Caitlyn Figuly, giving them the set 25-22, and the match 3-1.
