Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Women's Volleyball falls to the Presidents

The Saint Vincent College women's volleyball team traveled to Washington, Pennsylvania to face Washington and Jefferson College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match. The Presidents defeated the Bearcats in four sets, 3-1.

In the opening set against W&J, Saint Vincent (0-3, 0-3) scored four of the first five points. The Presidents (2-1, 2-1) tied the game at six a piece. The next few points went back and forth as Saint Vincent trailed by three, 11-8. The Bearcats were playing catchup, as W&J led by as many as 10 points. W&J won the first set 25-15.

The Presidents scored the first two points of the second set before losing eight straight to the Bearcats. Saint Vincent held the six point lead over W&J 8-2. SVC dominated by as many as 10 points in the second set, 20-10. The Bearcats took the second set from W&J, 25-23.

W&J started the third set on a roll, leading Saint Vincent 8-5. SVC stayed in the set as the two teams traded points until the Bearcats narrowed the deficit to six, 19-13. Saint Vincent could not regain its momentum and ultimately fell in the third set to W&J 25-15.

The Presidents scored a quick three points to lead 3-0 in the fourth set. Saint Vincent slimmed down the lead, trailing by six, 16-10. A kill by Caitlyn Figuly looked promising for the Bearcats to slim the lead down but the Presidents were already leading by eight. Washington and Jefferson won the fourth set of the match to secure the victory, 25-16.

Madison Reeping led the Bearcat attack with 12 kills and Becca Miller added seven. Madi Marsico tallied 23 digs and Hannah Devine notched 11 digs.

Saint Vincent faces Chatham University at the Robert S. Carey Student Center on Thursday, March 11. Start time is set for 7 p.m.
