CRESSON, PA - The Saint Vincent College women's volleyball team made quick work of host Mount Aloysius, defeating the Mounties in straight sets to move to 3-1 on the season.
Set scores were 25-14, 25-15 and 25-20.
The Bearcats' balanced offensive attack, which hit at a strong .272 clip on the afternoon, featured four players who recorded at least six kills.
Luciana Polk led the way with 12, while rookie
Stacie Ramos notched a career-high 10 and
Vivian Poach,
Lindsey Kocjancic and
Kaelyn Staples each chipping in with six. Two SVC players reached double figures in assists, with
Sara Ellis dishing out 19 and
Taylor Sheesley 14.
Defensively, reigning Presidents' Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week
Madie Marsico led the Bearcats with 12 digs, while Polk completed her second double-double of the season by notching 10. Ramos narrowly missed her first career double-double, as she finished with nine digs. Polk and
Caitlyn Figuly shared the team lead with two blocks apiece, while Sheesley paced Saint Vincent on the serve with three aces. As a team, Saint Vincent combined for seven aces.
The Bearcat front line forced 17 Mount Aloysius attack errors, limiting the Mounties to a .060 hitting percentage.
The Bearcats will return to non-conference action on Wednesday, Sept. 15, when they make the short trek to Pitt-Greensburg for a 7 p.m. match.Â
