LATROBE, Pa. - The Saint Vincent women's tennis team was defeated 7-2 by Division-II California University (Pa.) on the SVC Courts.

After falling behind 3-0 after doubles play, the Bearcats picked up a pair of singles wins.

Both Bearcat wins on the afternoon went the full distance. In the fourth singles spot, freshman Lydia Lieb won 6-0, 4-6, 10-8, while fellow first-year Abigail Donnelly came back from dropping the first set 6-7 (7-5) to take the second set, 6-3, and the decisive third set, 11-9, in the fifth singles spot.

Senior Maura Skelly also went the distance at the top flight, bouncing back from a 2-6 loss in the first set to take the second set, 6-1. However, she would drop the decisive third set by a 10-2 score.

The Bearcats will now return to conference play on Friday, Oct. 1, traveling south to face Waynesburg University at 4:30 p.m.
