Bearcats swept by PAC-leading Titans

LATROBE, PA – The Saint Vincent women's volleyball team fell in straight sets to Presidents' Athletic Conference-leading Westminster in the Robert S. Carey Student Center.

Despite the 3-0 loss, the match was competitive throughout, as set scores were 25-21, 25-20 and 25-18.
  
The Bearcat offense was paced by Carly Augustine and Luciana Polk, who each tallied eight kills, while Vivian Poach added seven putaways. Madie Marsico tallied 18 digs and Polk added 16. 

In the evening's first set, Saint Vincent and Westminster went back and forth in terms of scoring. The Titans' lead would eventually stretch to 17-14, before Westminster added a quick three points to make the score 20-14. The Bearcats scored the next 7-12 points which wasn't enough as Westminster would take the set, 25-21.
  
Set two was tight early on, with the teams trading points, before Westminster posted four straight points to open up a 22-18 lead. The Titans' lead would hover between four and five points over the next several serves, but Westminster finished winning the set by five, 25-20. 
  
The third set followed a similar start as the second, with neither team holding more than a two-point advantage early on. Leading 13-8, the Titans tallied four of the next five points to take the 17-9 edge over Saint Vincent. Westminster controlled the rest of the set, winning the third set 25-18 and the match 3-0.
  
The Titans' were led statistically by Lauren Lampus who led both sides with a 13-kill performance. Teammate Maya Stewart added 24 digs, while Samantha Kelly dished 29 assists. 
  
Saint Vincent will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 2, traveling to Waynesburg for a Presidents' Athletic Conference tri-match, with the Bearcats playing Thiel at 1 p.m. and host Waynesburg at 3 p.m.
