GROVE CITY, Pa. (Oct. 11) – The Saint Vincent College women's tennis team was defeated, 5-2, by host Grove City College in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship Tournament.
The Bearcats, seeded sixth in the PAC tourney, see their record fall to 7-8 on the season, while No. 3 Grove City moves to 11-3 and will face No. 2 seed Franciscan in the conference semifinals.
Saint Vincent snared its first win of the day in doubles play, when its No. 1 doubles tandem of
Carolina Walters and
Angela Popovich were victorious by an 8-4 score.
The Wolverines would then pick up victories in the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles spots to take a 2-1 lead into singles play.
Walters earned her second victory of the day by rolling to a 6-0, 6-0 decision in the No. 1 singles spot, the fifth 6-0, 6-0 blanking of the freshman's season. However, the Wolverines would claim the match's next three wins to close out the victory.
With their conference slate completed, the Bearcats will now close out the fall schedule with a non-conference match at Thiel on Tuesday, Oct. 18, beginning at 4 p.m.
