GREENSBURG, Pa (Oct. 2)Â - The Saint Vincent women's tennis team rolled to a non-conference Senior Day win against the visit Carlow Celtics, 9-0.
The Bearcats opened up doubles play with an 8-1 win at the top flight by senior Angela Popovich and Freshman Carolina Walters. Shortly thereafter the sophomore tandem of Abby Donnelly and Lydia Lieb claimed a decisive 8-0 victory at second doubles. Senior Cara McLaughlin teamed up with Julia Runk for the final doubles point of the day, an 8-2 decision in the three hole.

Entering singles play up 3-0 SVC kept the pressure on the Celtics and claimed all six matches with straight sets wins. Donnelly was the first off with a 6-0, 6-1 win at fifth singles. Walters clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win of her own at first singles.
Popovich rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 win at second singles and in doing so claimed her 50th career win in green and gold. The Bearcats also secure wins at third, fourth, and sixth singles by Lieb, Bella Baumgardner, and Sophie Neubert respectively.

SVC's record now sits at 5-4 on the year and they will return to the courts on Monday, October 3 when they play host to PAC leading Allegheny. First serve is scheduled for 4:00pm on the SVC courts.
