GROVE CITY, Pa. (Oct. 6) – The Saint Vincent women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision at Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Grove City.
The loss drops the Bearcats to 6-6 overall, and closes their 2022 PAC conference regular season record at 3-5.
The Saint Vincent No. 1 doubles tandem of
Carolina Walters and
Angela Popovich gave the Bearcats their first victory of the day, earning an 8-5 win.
At the No. 3 doubles spot, SVC's
Lydia Lieb and
Abby Donnelly battled but fell in a tight 8-5 decision.
Walters earned her second victory of the afternoon in impressive fashion with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep in the No. 1 singles spot. Walters improved to 9-3 in top-flight singles this season, while it marked the freshman's fourth 6-0, 6-0 decision of the fall.
The Wolverines swept the remaining five singles matches of the afternoon to improve to 10-2 overall, and 6-1 in PAC play.
Saint Vincent will now play a pair of non-conference matches over the weekend, making the short trek to face Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday, Oct. 8, before heading east to face Mount Aloysius on Sunday, Oct. 9.
