GREENSBURG, Pa (Oct. 8)- The Saint Vincent women's tennis team took the short trip to the Greensburg Racquet Club to take on cross-town non-conference opponent Pitt-Greensburg, where the Bearcats were defeated by a slim 5-4 margin.

In doubles play the Bearcats went 1-2, with
Lydia Lieb and
Abby Donnelly picking up the lone doubles win for the Bearcats by a score of 8-6. The Bearcats lost a tight 8-5 match in No. 1 doubles and fell in No. 2 doubles by a score of 8-1.

In singles play,
Carolina Walters scored a win in No. 1 singles, defeating two-time AMCC player of the year Emily Ruhlman. Walters dropped the first set 7-5, won set two 6-2, and won the tiebreaker 10-2.
Angela Popovich picked up another win for Saint Vincent in No. 2 singles, losing set one 6-4, winning set two 7-5 after trailing 5-2, and winning the tiebreaker 10-7. Lieb scored the final victory for SVC in singles play, defeating Cathryn Rossi of Pitt-Greensburg, losing set one 6-2, winning set two 7-5, and winning the tiebreaker 10-7. Donnelly battled but fell in a tight match at No. 6 singles, losing 6-3, 6-3.

The Bearcats return to action tomorrow, Sunday, October 9 when they travel to take on Mount Aloysius in a non-conference match. The match is scheduled to begin at 12 noon.
