The Saint Vincent women's bowling team hosted a tri-match at home on Saturday, finishing the day 2-2 against a pair of opponents.
In the opening match, the Bearcats started with team games of 176 and 170 to open a 74-pin lead over Penn State-Behrend. After giving up more than half the lead in game three, the Bearcats finished strong, shooting games of 179 and 207 to earn the victory, 870-846.
In the second five-game Baker set, the Bearcats opened a 70-pin lead after three games but the team was unable to finish well in the final two games, ultimately dropping the match by a score of 768-743.
After Penn State-Behrend lost to to Daemen College in a pair of matches, the Bearcats returned to action against Division II Daemen.
The Wildcats got off to a strong start, opening a 54-pin lead over Saint Vincent after just one game. The Bearcats stormed back in game two, winning 233-151 to take a 28-pin lead. Daemen then won game three by a 220-190 score, taking a 2-pin advantage. The lead grew to 24 for the visitors after the fourth game, and SVC dropped game five, 193-174 to give Daemen the match victory, 926-883.
The day's final match saw the two teams stay nearly even through two games. Daemen won the first game 168-167, then captured the second by a score of 171-167. The Bearcats outscored the Wildcats 195-170 in game three to take a 24-pin lead, then increased the advantage to 37 with a 165-152 win in game four. The final game was won by Daemen 182-163, but the Bearcats won the match 857-843.
For the day,
Jackie Koehler led the Bearcats with a per-frame average of 19.75, a game equivalent of 197.5.
Sabine Strickland finished at 16.42, followed by
Kaitlyn Morrison (16.32) and
Jessica Guesman (16.21).
Mercedes Belch rounded out the top five at 16.05.
Saint Vincent (24-7) will be back in action on Sunday, hosting the annual Br. Pat Lacey Memorial Tournament, named in honor of the longtime Bearcat coach. Action will begin at 10AM at Lincoln Lanes.
