YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (Feb. 25) – Behind a number of podium finishes, the Saint Vincent men's track and field team placed sixth at the 2022 Presidents' Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Youngstown State University.
The Bearcats amassed 46 points on the day to place sixth in the 10-team field.
Saint Vincent earned one PAC title on the day, placing first in the penultimate event, the distance medley relay. The foursome of
Aiden Jackson,
Collin Wilson,
Tyler Laughery and
Joey Bujdos turned in a winning time of 10:50.03, three seconds ahead of second-place Franciscan.
Sophomore
Tim Patterson was Saint Vincent's top individual scorer, turning in a pair of top-three finishes in distance events. Patterson opened his day placing third in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:50.90, a new personal record, before he finished runner-up in the 5,000 with a time of 16:05.57.
Patterson was one of two Bearcats on the podium in the 5K, as
Jeremy Capella took fifth in 16:16.83.
Along with his hand in winning the DMR, Bujdos led SVC in the 400-meter run by placing fifth in 51.60 seconds, while he joined Laughery,
Aiden Jackson and
Jared Holmes to take sixth in the 4x400 relay (3:35.98).
Laughery and Jackson also earned a spot on the podium in the 800-meter run, with the former taking fourth in 2:00.51, and the latter sixth in 2:01.38.
Making his season debut in the triple jump, junior
Evan Ray turned in the Bearcats' top showing in field events, placing sixth with a leap of 12.55 meters.
In the high jump,
Dammion Bundridge barely missed the podium, taking ninth with a leap of 1.71 meters.
Following the meet, Bujdos was selected to the PAC Sportsmanship Team.
Westminster College won the team championship with 124 points, with Franciscan taking second (108), Grove City third (95) and Geneva fourth (89.5).
