SVC earns three wins, sets two records at Mount Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Saint Vincent men's track and field team earned three event wins and saw two new program records set at the Jim Wuske Invitational, hosted by the University of Mount Union.

The Bearcat distance crew turned in a solid performance for the second straight week, headlined by junior Joey Bujdos, who earned the win in the 1,000-meter run in a time of 2:37.31, a new school record.

Bujdos would then go on to anchor Saint Vincent's victorious distance medley relay squad, joining Tyler Laughery, Collin Wilson and Aiden Jackson, to turn in a time of 10:56.11, earning the win by more than 17 seconds.

Tim Patterson picked up SVC's third win of the day in the 3,000-meter run, topping the 23-runner field in a time of 8:58.83. Teammate John Syms placed 13th in the event in a time of 9:49.91.

Laughery paced the Bearcats in the 800, placing second in a strong 35-runner field in a time of 2:02.09, less than a second out of the top spot. He was one of three SVC runners to place in the top half of the event, with Jackson taking eighth (2:05.26) and Patterson 11th (2:06.05).

Jeremy Capella led the way for the Bearcats in the 5K, finishing in a time of 16:36.75 to place eighth in a field of 20 runners, while Laughery, Jackson, Bujdos and Wilson teamed up to take fourth among 12 teams in the 4x400 relay in a time of 3:38.96.

Dammion Bundridge led the Bearcat sprinters, taking 19th out of 46 runners in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.57 seconds.

Auggie Frohnen led the way in field events for the Bearcats, placing sixth among 30 throwers with a school-record mark of 12.58 meters (41.25 feet).

Evan Ray placed 13th in a field of 30 in the long jump, leaping 5.90 meters, with teammate Cody Savage-Hicks taking 14th in the event (5.86 meters) and Jeffrey Downs 15th (5.83 meters).

Saint Vincent will be back on the road to northeastern Ohio when it returns to action on Friday, Feb. 11, at the Baldwin Wallace Mid-February Invitational.
