CHESTER, Pa. (May 16) – After outlasting a day full of lightning and weather delays, the Saint Vincent mid-distance duo of senior
Sydney Green and junior
Joey Bujdos had a memorable evening at the Swarthmore Last Chance, hosted by Widener University.
Both runners achieved new personal bests while competing against fields riddled with professional athletes.
In the women's 800-meter run, Green shattered her own school record by more than a second, crossing the line in 2:16.06. Not only was it a new college and personal mark, but it was also the fastest time in the event by a Presidents' Athletic Conference runner this season, and the seventh fastest performance in the NCAA's Mid-Atlantic Region.
Competing in the men's 800, Bujdos turned in a time of 1:52.17, also a new career best, a 2022 PAC best, the third-fastest performance in the region this season and the fifth-best performance in program history. Bujdos finished second overall in a strong field of 22 runners, and first among non-professional entrants.
Green, Bujdos and the Bearcats will have a quick turnaround before returning back to eastern Pennsylvania to take part in the two-day All-Atlantic Region Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Moravian College Wednesday, May 18, and Thursday, May 19.
