LATROBE, Pa (Sept. 15)- The Saint Vincent women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 sweep of Penn State-Shenango on Thursday night. The Bearcats won the sets, 25-5, 25-11, and 25-18.

Carly Augustine led the way for the Bearcats with a team high eight service aces, while also adding seven kills, ten assists, and nine digs.
Kaelyn Staples led the Bearcats in kills with eight.
Vivian Poach added 13 assists and
Luciana Polk led the team with 11 digs. Hailey Stormer also had four kills in the win for Saint Vincent.

It was all Saint Vincent from the first set. The Bearcats held the Lions to just five points in the set, picking up the 25-5 set victory. Augustine picked up six kills in the first set, helping pace the Bearcats to the set win.

In the second set, Penn State-Shenango hung around early as the teams traded the first couple of points. The game was tied, 2-2 and the Bearcats took full advantage from that point, outscoring the Lions 23-9 in the remaining portions of the set, winning the set 25-11.

It was a much more competitive game in the third set. Saint Vincent got out to an early 15-5 lead, but the Lions battled back. PSU-Shenango went on a 10-6 run, cutting the Saint Vincent lead to 21-15. The Lions would hang around for the next couple of points, but Saint Vincent ultimately pulled away in the end, coming away with the 25-18 set victory.

SVC finished the match with 33 kills as a team, 17 service aces, and 53 digs. Saint Vincent limited the Lions to just 11 kills and one ace as a team.

The Bearcats return to action on Tuesday, September 20 when they play host to Bethany for their first PAC match of the season. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the Robert S. Carey Center.
