NEW WILMINGTON, Pa (Sept. 30)- The Saint Vincent College women's tennis team was defeated 6-3 on the road by Westminster in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match.

Saint Vincent went 1-2 in doubles play with the No.1 doubles team of
Carolina Walters and
Angela Popovich winning a tight match, by a score of 8-6 against Sabrina Slagle and Emma Sukal of Westminster.
Both the SVC No. 2 doubles team ofÂ
Bella Baumgardner and
Rebecca Kurylo and the No. 3 paring of
Lydia Lieb and
Abby Donnelly were defeated by a margin of 8-2.

The Bearcats scored wins in the No. 1 and No. 6 singles positions. Walters won convincingly by scores of 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 spot and Donnelly won in the No. 6 position by scores of 6-0, 7-5.

In the No. 2 singles spot Popovich was edged slightly as the match went to a third-set tiebreaker. Popovich won the first 6-3, lost set two, 6-0, and lost the tiebreak 1-0 (10-1).

Saint Vincent will get to enjoy a one-day rest, before they return to action on Sunday, October 2, when they play host to Carlow University. Due to the threat of rain, the match will take place at the Greensburg Racquet Club with a 3 p.m. scheduled start.
