NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Jan. 21)- The Saint Vincent women's swim team traveled to Westminster for a PAC matchup with the Titans, where the Bearcats recorded a 159-85 win. The win for the Bearcats was their fourth win in a row, moving them to 7-1 overall and 6-1 in the PAC.

The Bearcat women won all 14 events on the afternoon. Saint Vincent's first win of the afternoon came in the 200-yard medley relay race. The quartet of
Lauren Connors,
Sara Basala,
Katie Kozy, and
Abby Leskovansky took home first place.

The four swimmers swam a time of 1:53.78 which was five seconds faster than the second-place finishers also from SVC. That team included
Julia Mikita, Maddy Cassidy,
Emma Martz, and
Cara Luallen. The quartet swam a time of 1:58.85.

Sarah Alexander scored first place finished in two events as well for the Bearcats on the afternoon. She won the 1000-yard freestyle, swimming a time of 11:22.41 which was 30 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher, Christina Loewe of Westminster. Alexander also scored a win in the 500-yard freestyle race, swimming a time of 5:30.60, two seconds faster than Megan Routch of Westminster who finished in second.

Connors recorded two other individual first place finishes and a second-place finish in the win for SVC. Connors won the 100-yard backstroke, swimming a time of 1:01.88, five seconds faster than Shannon Geer of Westminster. She also won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:17.14 and recorded a second-place finish in the 200-yar IM. Martz finished first in the event, with a time of 2:20.70, four seconds ahead of Connors.

Kozy also recorded individual wins in the 200-yard butterfly and 100-yard butterfly as well. In the 200-yard butterfly she swam a time of 2:25.74, which was eight seconds faster than Loewe of Westminster. In the 100-yard butterfly, she finished just seven tenths of a second ahead of her teammate
Erica Steele who finished in second place.

Along with her second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly, Steele also tallied wins in the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle. Leskovansky finished just behind Steele in the 100-yard freestyle, while she won the 50-yard freestyle event.

Cassidy scored individual wins in the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard breaststroke events. In the 100-yard breastroke Cassidy swam a time of 1:13.17, which just one tenth of a second ahead of Basala who finished in second. In the 200-yard breaststroke she recorded a time of 2:40.79, again slightly ahead of Basala who again finished in second place.

The Bearcats won the final women's event of the afternoon as well, which was the 200-yard freestyle relay. The quarter of Luallen, Kozy, Leskovansky, and Steele won the event with a time of 1:42.11, six seconds ahead of the team from Westminster.

The Bearcats return to action on Saturday, January 28, when they host a non-conference meet against Lycoming College. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. in the Frank and Elizabeth Resnick Pool on the campus of Saint Vincent College.
