Match Recap: Women's Tennis | | Noah Aftanas

Women's Tennis Downs Carlow on the Road, 6-3

PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Oct. 10)- The Saint Vincent women's tennis team won their final non-conference match of the fall, defeating Carlow by a 6-3 final score.
 
The Bearcats picked up two points, winning two out of the three doubles points and followed that up with four wins in singles play.
 
In number one doubles, Carolina Walters and Rachel Zgurich defeated Karissa Miller and Julia Piatt by a final score of 8-6 to give the Bearcats a 1-0 lead. Emily Pierce and Marisa Hooper won 8-6 in number two doubles as well for the Bearcats.
 
Carlow won number three doubles to cut the SVC lead to 2-1 heading into singles play.
 
In singles play, the Bearcats won number one, number three, number four, and number five singles matches. Walters secured her second win of the night, winning 6-0, 6-0 in number one singles to put SVC up 3-1.
 
Lydia Lieb won in number four singles by a score of 6-1, 6-4 to put SVC up 4-1. Abby Donnelly sealed the match with a 6-2, 6-0 win in number five singles for the Bearcats. Rebecca Kurylo fell in a tough match in number six singles by scores of 6-3, 5-6, and 5-10.
 
Zgurich was defeated in number two singles, but SVC still won the match, 6-3.
 
The Bearcats return to action tomorrow, Wednesday, October 12, when they take on Grove City in their PAC regular season finale at the SVC Courts. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
