PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Oct. 14)- The Saint Vincent women's volleyball team was defeated 3-0 on the road at Chatham on Saturday afternoon.

The Bearcats fell in three sets by scores of 25-18, 26-24, and 25-13.

Madie Eagler recorded 16 a game-high 16 assists in the loss for Saint Vincent.
Luciana Polk tallied 17 digs and five assists, while
Nicolena Yanosick and
Stacie Ramos both recorded 12 digs each.

Kaelyn Staples added a team-high seven kills for SVC, while
Alexis DiFuccia recorded four kills and two blocks in the 3-0 loss.

The Bearcats and Cougars traded the first six points as the opening set was tied 3-3. Chatham then went on a 7-2 run to take a 10-5 lead. Saint Vincent answered with a run of their own, this one a 4-0 run on a kill by
Anna Grandas and service ace by Yanosick mixed between two errors by the Cougars as SVC took cut the lead to 10-9.

Chatham answered by scoring the next two points, but another big SVC run put the Bearcats ahead. Saint Vincent went on a 6-0 run and scored seven of the next eight to take a 15-12 lead. Over the run, the Bearcats were helped by six Cougar errors and kill by DiFuccia as Saint Vincent led 16-13.

The Cougars responded in a big way, closing out the set on a 12-2 run, including scoring the final six of the last seven points to win the opening set (25-18), taking a 1-0 lead in the match.

It was back-and-forth early on in the second set as well as the teams traded the first several points, finding themselves tied at 6-6. The Bearcats then took the first advantage, scoring the next five points and six of the next seven on four errors by the Cougars kills from Grandas and DiFuccia as SVC took a 12-7 lead.

Chatham answered with a 6-1 run, but SVC still led at 13-12. The Bearcats and Cougars traded the next few points, as Saint Vincent still held a slight 21-20 advantage. SVC then scored the next three points on a kill from Staples, service ace by DiFuccia, and attack error by Chatham, giving SVC set point and a 24-20 lead.

The Cougars scored the next six points in a row to win the set (26-24), taking a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.

Chatham took the advantage in set two and carried it into the third set as they controlled the entirety of the final set. The Cougars opened up to a 4-0 lead in the set and increased their lead to 20-9. Chatham then went on to score five of the final nine points of the set to win the set (25-13), clinching the 3-0 sweep.

As a team the Bearcats recorded 63 digs, 23 assists, four blocks and 24 kills. Chatham on the other hand, totaled 68 digs, 31 assists, five blocks, and 36 kills, while also recording 11 service aces, compared to just two by the Bearcats.

Saint Vincent looks to get back on track when they play host to Grove City on Wednesday, October 18 in a PAC matchup. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the Robert S. Carey Center.
