GREENVILLE, Pa. (Oct. 7)- The Saint Vincent women's volleyball team completed a three-set sweep of Thiel to improve their PAC record to 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The Bearcats won by set scores of 25-16, 25-20, and 25-22 to complete the sweep of the Tomcats.

Luciana Polk had a big game for Saint Vincent, compiling 15 kills and 14 digs for SVC.
Stacie Ramos added 16 digs for Saint Vincent and
Nicolena Yanosick picked up 14 digs and two service aces in the win.

Madie Eagler recorded a game-high 27 assists for SVC.
Kaelyn Staples and
Alexis DiFuccia each added six kills for the Bearcats.

It was all Bearcats from the start as they opened up to an 8-5 lead in the opening set. The Bearcats continued on the attack as they still led at 17-14 and then used that momentum to increase their lead.

SVC scored the next four points on two errors by the Tomcats, mixed between back-to-back service aces by Ramos to take a 21-14 lead. Saint Vincent won the opening set (25-16), scoring the final two points on an error by Thiel followed by a kill from Polk to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

It was back-and-forth early on in the second set as the set was tied 9-9 after the teams traded the first several points. The teams continued to go back-and-forth as the score remained tied at 18-18.

After Thiel took a 19-18 lead, the Bearcats answered scoring seven of the final eight points including six in a row to win the set (25-20). Three kills by DiFuccia, two from Staples, a kill rom Polk, and an attack error by the Tomcats helped the Bearcats increase their lead to 2-0.

Thiel took the early advantage in the third set as they opened up to a slight 10-8 lead in the set. SVC answered by scoring the next five points and six of the next seven to take a 14-11 lead. The Bearcats and Tomcats traded the next few points as they still led by three at 23-20.

SVC closed the set out with kills by Ramos and
Lauren Fox to win the final set (25-22) and seal the 3-0 win. .

The Bearcats compiled 37 kills, six aces, six blocks, 31 assists, and 73 digs to win the match.

Saint Vincent returns to action on Tuesday, October 10 with a PAC matchup against Franciscan at home. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the Robert S. Carey Center.
