CANTON, Ohio (Nov. 18)- The Saint Vincent men's swim team concluded the three-day Malone Invitational with a fourth place finish out of 14 teams.
The Bearcats were led on day three by
Jacob Dzurica. Dzurica posted a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke, swimming a time of 1:56.60 and followed that up with two-top five relay finishes in the 400-yard medley relay (third place) and 400-yard freestyle relay (fifth place).
In both the 400 medley and 400 freestyle, Dzurica teamed up with
Liam Randolph,
Colin Spehar, and
Alex Leskovansky to finish in third place.
Individually, Randolph also finished sixth in the 200-yard IM (2:00.49) and second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:09.64) after placing fifth in the prelims earlier in the day.
Spehar on the other hand recorded a top-ten finish in the 200-yard butterfly (2:08.44) after finishing just outside the top-ten during the prelim race.
Leskovansky also picked up a top-ten finish in the 100-yard freestyle, racing a time of 48.90 to finish in ninth, moving up two places from his 11
th place finish in the prelims earlier in the day.
Nickolas Jackman picked up another top-ten individual finish for the Bearcats in the 500-yard freestyle (4:35.95), while
Robert Harrington finished seventh in the 200-yard butterfly (2:08.01.).
The Bearcats finished fourth with a total of 1433 points, finishing behind Oberlin College who won the event with a total of 2358 points, Transylvania who finished in second place with 1713, and Penn State-Altoona who finished just ahead of SVC with 1479 points.
Saint Vincent will return to action after Thanksgiving break with a trip to Washington and Jefferson for a meet against the Presidents on Saturday, December 2. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at W&J.
