MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (Dec. 17)- The Saint Vincent men's basketball team traveled to Moon Township, taking on Division-I Robert Morris in an exhibition game. The Colonials defeated the Bearcats 95-46.

As an exhibition contest, not counting toward the Bearcats' won/lost record.Â

Mike Iuzzolino and
Dev Ostrowski led the way for Saint Vincent, both scoring 15 points, while Ostrowski also grabbed four rebounds.
Jaden Gales finished added eight points for the Bearcats and
Jaden Bailey scored four points.

Rounding out the scoring for Saint Vincent was
Jordan Lucas-Johnson with two points and
Julien Vonovier and
Kison Coates-Edmondson each scored a point from the free throw line.

The Colonials jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead over the first several minutes, before Ostrowski scored the first field goal for Saint Vincent on a shot just inside the arc to cut the lead to 6-2.

Robert Morris continued on the attack, going on an 11-4 run over the next three minutes of play to take an 11-point lead at 17-6. Coming down to the other end of the court, Bailey drilled a three for the Bearcats to cut the lead back to single digits at 17-9.

It was all Colonials over the next several minutes of game action as they outscored the Bearcats 16-6 to take an 18-point lead (33-15) with 9:54 remaining in the half. SVC answered with a quick 6-0 run to cut the lead to 12 at 33-21 with 7:29 left in the half but Robert Morris answered to close out the half.

RMU closed the remaining seven and a half minutes of the half on a 16-5 run to take a 49-26 lead into the break. Lucas-Johnson drove in for a layup and got a big defensive stop on the other end to close out the half for Saint Vincent.

In the half, Saint Vincent shot 29 percent (9-31), including shooting just 2-11 from three-point range. On the other end, RMU shot 56.7 percent (17-30) from the field, including 4-11 from behind the arc. Robert Morris outrebounded the Bearcats 27-10 in the half as well.

It was much of the same story in the second half. Over the opening ten minutes of the half, the Colonials outscored SVC 27-9 to take a 76-35 lead. Both teams emptied out the benches over the remaining ten minutes as Robert Morris closed out the win in the exhibition contest.

Overall, the Bearcats shot 27 percent from the field (17-63), while Robert Morris shot a strong 54.7 percent (35-64). The Colonials outrebounded SVC 60-20 over the course of the game as well.

The Bearcats, who are off to their best start since the 2002-2003 season will now travel to Miami, Florida for two more games this week before heading home for Christmas break. Saint Vincent will take on Benedictine on Wednesday, December 20 at 3 p.m. and Simpson College on Thursday, December 21 at 6 p.m. in the Cruzin Classic in Miami.
