GROVE CITY, Pa. (Feb. 15)- The Saint Vincent men's swimming team took part in day two of the PAC Championship Meet, hosted by Grove City College.
The Bearcats currently sit in third place with 236 points, behind Grove City who leads the PAC Championship Meet with 332 points and Westminster who is in second place with 273 points. Allegheny, and Washington and Jefferson round out the top-five on the men's side.
In the preliminary round of the 500-yard freestyle event, the Bearcats advanced three swimmers into the championship round.
Nicholas Jackman placed fourth in the preliminary event,
Jacob Bacasa placed in ninth, and
James Clark placed in 15th, as all three swimmers advanced to Tuesday night.
In the championship of the 500-yard freestyle, Jackman finished in third place. Jackman swam a time of 4:49.58 finishing just behind Logan Myers of Allegheny who finished in second place and Sam Duda of Westminster who took home the PAC Championship. In the consolation final, Bacasa finished in second place and Clark finished in seventh place.
In the 200-yard IM, Saint Vincent saw four swimmers place in the top-16 in the preliminary round to advance to the championship event in the night.
Kris Smith,
Colin Spehar,
Noah Schollaert, and
Robert Harrington all were in the top-16. Smith led the way, finishing in third place, followed by Spehar in seventh, Schollaert in 11
th, and Harrington in 12
th in the prelims.
In the championship round of the 200-yard IM, the Bearcats picked up another third-place finish as
Kris Smith swam a time of 1:58.92. Spehar also picked up a top-eight finish in the conference, swimming a time of 2:05.90 in the event.
SVC had the top-two finishers in the championship consolation portion of the 200-yard IM as well, with Schollaert finishing in first and Harrington just behind him in second place. Schollaert swam a time of 2:06.11 and Harrington recorded a time of 2:06.15.
In the final prelim of the day, three Bearcats advanced to the championship round in the 50-yard freestyle.
Jacob Dzurica,
Alex Leskovansky, and
Hayden Klein all placed within the top-16 to advance to the championship round. In the prelims Dzurica placed in third, Leskovansky in seventh, and Klein in twelfth respectively.
SVC had two top-eight finishers in the championship portion of the 50-yard freestyle. Dzurica finished in second place with a time of 20.88, just behind Mac Hancock (Grove City), who brought home the PAC Championship. Leskovansky finished in seventh place, swimming a time of 21.92 in the event. In the championship consolation portion, Klein swam a time of 23.04 to finish in fourth place.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the Bearcats finished in third place behind Grove City who took home the championship in the event followed by Allegheny who finished in second place. The Bearcats swam a time of 1:27.46 in the event.
In the final event of the night, the 400-yard medley relay, the Bearcats once again finished in third place. The quartet of Dzurica, Smith, Spehar, and Leskovansky swam a time of 3:31.22 behind the quartet's from Allegheny who finished in second place and Grove City who took home the PAC Championship in the event.
The Bearcats will compete in day three of the PAC Championship Meet, tomorrow, Friday, February 17 at Grove City College's Longnecker Competition Pool. The preliminary rounds for day three's events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Friday morning, with the championship round beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday night.
