LATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 13) -- The Saint Vincent women's tennis team suffered its first setback of the year, an 8-1 loss to their Presidents' Athletic Conference rival Franciscan University Barons.
In doubles play the Bearcats fell behind early with the Barons claiming the second and third flights by matching 8-1 scores. Carolina Walters and Rachel Zgurich played the closest doubles match of the day, battling back and forth with Franciscan before ultimately falling 8-4.
In singles play, Marisa Hooper continued her hot start to the season with a 6-3, 2-6, 10-2 win at fifth singles to give SVC its lone point of the day.
The loss halts the Bearcats' three-match win streak and has their record sitting at 3-1 (0-1 PAC) on the year.
SVC has a long reprise before they return to the courts for a PAC match against Thiel on Monday, Sept. 18. First serve is slated for 4 p.m. in Greenville.
