GREENSBURG, Pa. (Sept. 17) -- Strong play throughout the lineup propelled the Saint Vincent men's tennis team to a 9-0 win over Waynesburg University at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
In doubles play Brian Lee and Brennen Novotney cruised to an 8-0 win in the three hole. William Hinkson and Brady Johnson added an 8-3 win at second doubles, right before August Lawrence and Josh Havrilla claimed an 8-2 win at first doubles. The win was the first of Hinkson's career.
The Bearcats continued to roll in singles as Johnson put them up 4-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 win at fourth singles. Jack Citrone clinched the match for the Bearcat with a dominant showing at second singles, 6-0, 6-0. Fresh off of sealing the Bearcat football team's win with a coffin corner punt yesterday, Kyle Murray served up a 6-0, 6-3 win at third singles in his fall tennis debut. Wins by Braden Yokopenic, J.T. Gockel, and Novotney would put the finishing touches on the match for the green and gold.
The Bearcats improve to 2-0 on their fall campaign and will be back in action on Sunday, Sept. 24, when they host the Hood Blazers. First serve is scheduled for noon on the SVC Courts.
